Kataklysmos Fair is organized every year in June, 50 days after Orthodox Easter. Water is the focus of this event and it takes place in all coastal cities. Limassol and Agia Napa have this festival for three days. Paphos celebrates this festival outside the castle at the harbor. The Kataklysmos fair sees a lot of concerts, games, traditional dances, poetry and singing, water sport shows, competitions and other events near the waterfront. In 2015, it was reported that Cyprus would struggle with tourism due to the economic crisis, but it seems those stories were false after tourism officials released a statement saying they had a great year in 2015.
The number of tourists that travelled to Cyprus in 2015 reached 2.65 million, compared to 2.44 million in 2014, which was a 14-year high. Travel experts have said the boost in tourism was down to the euro offering value for money, as well as Cyprus being seen as a safe country to travel to with the shocking terrorist attacks in 2015.
Ryanair are launching two weekly flights to Brussels-Zaventem, and to celebrate the new flights, Cypriot customers will be able to fly from Larnaca to Brussels for just 19.99 Euros in February. However, customers have until Thursday 21st January to book the flights at the special offer.
A Ryanair Spokesman said the flights are a way to celebrate coming back to Larnaca.

Some holidaymakers from the UK and Russia who were booked to fly to Sharm el-Sheikh are now due to spend their holiday in Cyprus. Since the ban on commercial flights to the popular Egypt holiday destination, some holidaymakers have opted to spend their holidays in Cyprus, which gives the tourism industry a much-needed boost.
The president of the Association of Cyprus Travel Agents (ACTA), Dinos Kakkouras, has said that 14 flights from Russia that were due to fly holidaymakers to Egypt have already re-scheduled to fly to Cyprus.
Although the circumstances of the new influx of tourists are nothing to be celebrated about, tourism officials hope the holidaymakers from Russia and the UK will enjoy their stay and make Cyprus their number one holiday destination. (more…)
